Competitors from across the Northeast compete in 2017 NH Senior Games Archery Tournament Dunbarton, NH: More than 30 archers-including National Senior Games medalists-competed in the 2017 NH Senior Games Archery Tournament held earlier this week at the Pioneer Sportsmen Club. “The sport is growing in popularity in all age groups,” said Dana White, who has directed the tournament for the NH Senior Games for more than 10 years. “It is also a sport where people of all abilities can participate and have fun.” Mr. White, an accomplished archer and coach, also took part in the competition. Among the competitors at the event were Ron and Patti Gauvin of Milton, NH. Ron, who has participated in competitions for many years, has had to alter his shooting style due to a brain tumor which has limited use of one of his arms. Area athletes strike gold at New Hampshire Senior Games Ten Pin Bowling Tournament Manchester, NH: Numerous strikes ruled the day as area bowlers competed in the 2017 NH Senior Games Ten Pin Bowling Tournament, held Friday July 7th at Spare Time Lanes in Manchester. Medal Winners by age group included: Men: 40-45: Gold Medal-Joseph Baca, Concord- score of 474 55-59: Gold Medal -Young Ching Yeh, Nashua-score of 368 60-64: Gold Medal-Glenn Graham, Bedford -score of 327 Silver Medal-Paul Yankowskas, Londonderry- score of 295 70-74: Gold Medal-Bobby Strong, Concord-score of 617 Silver Medal -Guy Marcoux, Goffstown -score of 435 75-79: Gold Medal -Harry Turner, Nashua-score of 356 Silver Medal-Dave Baldessari, Candia-score of 285 80-84: Gold Medal-Louis Griebel, Nashua-score of 440 Silver Medal -Edward Brooks, Salem-score of 268 Women 55-59: Gold Medal -Shari Marston, Milford-score of 466 80-84: Gold Medal-Katherine Griebel, Nashua-score of 368 The 2017 New Hampshire Senior Games continue through…

Several New Hampshire older athletes showed silver, gold and bronze at the National Senior Games held earlier this month.
Fourteen Granite Staters earned medals in several different events, including triathlon, racquetball, tennis, javelin, road race, track and field, and pickleball. More than 50 New Hampshire seniors competed in the Birmingham, Ala., games, which were held June 2 to 15.
“It’s a terrific testament to the skills of these competitors as well as all of the other New Hampshire athletes who competed in Birmingham,” said George Tossati, chairman of the New Hampshire Senior Games. “They really had a great showing for our state.”

Area athletes strike gold at New Hampshire Senior Games Candlepin Bowling Tournament Manchester, NH: Star bowlers from across New Hampshire battled for state supremacy in the 2017 NH Senior Games Candlepin Bowling Tournament, held Friday June 30th at Lakeside Lanes in Manchester. Among the many stand-outs was Fred LaFontaine of Concord. “I very much enjoy the sport,” he said. “It’s a lot of fun and keeps the blood flowing.” Mr. LaFontaine, who will turn 90 years old this fall, captured a gold medal. An avid bowler, he has competed in the games for the past three years. Later this summer, Mr. LaFontaine will team with 89-year-old Gloria Benjamin of Goffstown in mixed doubles at the Pickleball Tournament. Participating in the NH Senior Games for the first time ever was Christina Gaudet-Pelletier.
