Jim Eddinger became involved with the MCC Exercise Science program when we first meet at the YMCA where the ES students were volunteering and practicing their assessment skills. In talking with Jim and learning of his excitement and involvement in the NH Senior Games and pickleball we invited Jim to speak in our Physical Activity and Aging class. Jim brought some of his pickleball partners to share their stories of how they became physically active and then proceeded to “school us” in the game of Pickleball. The students loved it and were humbled when an 89-year-old beat them in Pickleball. From there, our relationship continued to grow with the start of a partnership between the ES club and Jim’s Pickleball group. Jim has been instrumental in fostering this relationship. 2017 NHSG Badminton Tournament features strong performances from area athletes New London, NH: Hard fought rallies on the singles, doubles and mixed doubles courts highlighted the 2017 New Hampshire Senior Games Annual Badminton Tournament, held recently at Colby-Sawyer College. “I enjoy all aspects of the sport,” said Wicky Chan of Nashua. The 53-year old plays regularly in a club in Massachusetts and looks for competitive events outside of his regular playing group. “This is a wonderful tournament,” he said. “There are some excellent players here and it’s been fun to meet people and compete.” Mr. Chan’s doubles partner, Larry Lo of Westwood, MA, shared that he plays for exercise and the competition. “It really is a fun game,” he said. “I like the strategy of the sport. 2017 NHSG Pickleball Field Largest Ever Manchester, NH: Over 150 pickleball players from throughout NH, New England and the Northeast competed in the 2017 NH Senior Games Pickleball Tournament held recently at the Executive Health and Sports Center. “This was our largest field in the history of our games and likely one of the larger tournaments ever in New Hampshire,” said Walt Hooker, event director. “Over the three-day period, we had 386 matches played by 154 players on 10 courts.
